Words from the Skipper
Dragon Families,
Hello from the flight-line! This is a quick update on happenings within the squadron and where we are focused as summer approaches and we start to get a bit busier. First, we have finally settled in to a bit of a routine and after taking some baby steps to get used to operating out of Lemoore we are starting to ramp up the pace of our daily operations. Our Command Ombudsman, Tamara Brooks, has been welcoming new Dragons to the fold, however, she still needs to get contact information on all of our dependants.
We are in the process of formally organizing the "Dragon Family Readiness Group" (FRG) to ensure that all of our families are provided with the support they need as the home members of a deployable unit. I encourage everyone to attend a few of the upcoming FRG meetings to get to know the organizaton, to share your concerns and your perspective on squadron issues.
As for upcoming events and future plans...things
are going to start getting busier as we progress through the year. We are planning for our first detachment during the latter half of May for an Air-to-Air missile exercise as well as to stretch our legs a bit. We are also looking at scheduling a detachment to Fallon, NV in late summer so we can learn how they do business up there. We have several folks who have never operated out of Fallon and it will be a good learning opportunity for us. I want to encourage folks to focus on family matters now through September because time at home will be at a premium during the latter part of 2010 as we start work-ups.
Thanks for all of your support for the squadron!
